Likely the most accurate map in existence of the old town of Kernville is included in the book. Researched and created by the authors, with the places in the book indicated, it is of exact scale from a county map dated 1888, with updates made from an aerial photo taken in 1948 just before the town was moved. Some details were filled in by referencing a Map created by Bernice and Patty Wermuth in 1972 (found by the authors at the Kern County Beal Memorial Library) and building locations verified by personal interviews and from a map in the book “Kernville’s Historical Houses” written by Virginia Wells Kelley.
